…and you look at the amount of sugar in a child’s breakfast cereal, you might as well be rolling up the kid’s sleeve and putting in heroine…”

Dr. Christiane Northrup , Dr. Alejandro Junger, Jason Vale, Mike Adams, Daniel Vitalis and Kris Carr discussing Sugar and High Fructose Corn Syrup:
Dr. Alejandro Junger:Americaloves enemies. America chooses an enemy and deploys all its forces against it right, so at some point when we were noticing that we were getting fat as a population, we attacked, made the enemy which was fat and everything became fat free, fat free this and fat free that. Calories that fat were occupying were replaced by motion carbohydrates. That resulted in the fattest country in the world.
“68% of US adults are overweight or obese.” - The Journal of the American Medical Association.
Jason Vale: Fat free normally means it’s loaded with sugar. I can get a two pound bag of sugar in my hand now and I can put a label that says 100% Fat Free. The fact that once the sugar is ingested will turn into fat in the body because why? Because it soars the sugar levels sky high, and what does the pancreas do, it has to secrete insulin in order to bring that down so you don’t die. Insulin is the fat producing hormone. So with the two pound bag of insulin sugar that I put 100% Fat Free although factually correct, is unbelievably misleading. So all this excess energy comes along and says where can we store it? Short-term places, liver, but what do we do with the excess? I know what we’ll do - we produce some fat cells, store them in there, use them later. The problem is, there is never a later.

Q:what does trans fat mean
Despite the fact that trans fats are rather uncommon in nature, they can be detected in the food production process. It is the common name for unsaturated fat with so-called trans-isomer fatty acids. The consumption of these trans fats elevates the risk for coronary heart diseases by increasing the level of cholesterol. This is why health authorities recommend to restrict the consumption of these trans fats to low amounts. There are different regulations in every country concerning the consumption of trans fats. Palm oil is used more and more as an alternative in baking and processing food applications. For more information contact your local metabolic balance® coach.

For Losing Weight, Commercial Programs Are Better and Cheaper Than Noncommercial Programs
The “power of the group” seems to sustain motivation.
How do noncommercial weight-loss programs compare with commercial weight-loss programs? In an eight-arm randomized trial that involved 740 overweight or obese adults in the U.K., researchers compared the relative effectiveness of various 12-week programs: general practice one-to-one counseling, pharmacy one-to-one counseling, a group-based dietetics program, and three commercial programs (Rosemary Conley, Slimming World, and Weight Watchers). Participants in another group were allowed to choose among these six programs. Each participant in the control group received 12 vouchers for free visits to a fitness center.
All programs resulted in significant mean weight loss at 12 weeks (range, 1.4 kg for general practice to 4.4 kg for Weight Watchers). All programs, except general practice and pharmacy one-to-one counseling, resulted in significant weight loss at 1 year (range, 0.7–3.5 kg). Only the Weight Watchers group, however, experienced significantly greater mean weight loss at 1 year (2.5 kg) than the control group. Costs were highest for general practice and pharmacy counseling programs and lowest for the commercial programs.
Comment: In this trial, commercial weight-loss programs were cheaper and more effective (Weight Watchers was particularly effective) than noncommercial weight-loss programs. Editorialists speculate that commercial programs are effective because they provide intensive support (e.g., “the power of the group” in weekly sessions) and incentives, which sustain motivation and behavioral change. Notably, these results are similar to those of another trial in which Weight Watchers was superior to weight-loss advice provided by primary care practices
